I have a strange issue that started just before Christmas. The whole network dragged down to a crawl, including wireless. plugging in behind the router on a laptop is blazing fast - replaced router but still crawls, I descided to unplug everything except teh one computer I was using and BANG- couldn't access internet at all even though I had an IP and was connected to my router. long story short - there is one computer if its plugged in - wala- internet access, but VERY VERY slow, unplug it and bang- no internet access. the computer in question is nothign special - just an XP machine running service pack 2.. even stranger- it doesn't even need to be turned on and same result, although disabling its network card also causes internet connectivity to be lost.

That sounds very strange.. The only thing i could think of, is that the router is acting very funny (but i think you said you already replaced that.) But the only thing i can think of to really get to the bottom of this is to reset the router to default settings, and power cycle it. So no security features of any kind enabled on the router (like WEP or MAC/IP address verification.) See if within the router setup you can check all the ports to see if they are functioning. I would try different Ethernet cables, with each different computer, in each different port on the router, and maybe you can isolate one of these things as faulty. Try setting up wireless one computer at a time with the no security and all the default settings.

If you can not get on the internet in any given setup you try, check to see if you can ping the router. If you can, usually the problem is somewhere on the other end of the router, i.e. the routers internet/WAN settings, the Modem, or your ISP. Good luck.
