introducing a jealous dog to a new baby?

My baby is due in Oct and my dog is VERY jealous of anything or person that gets more attention than she does, how can I get her used to a new baby?
I should say she is not a bad or dangerous dog at all, she shows no signs of being a dangerous dog, she just likes to have attention, for example, if someone she hasnt met before is sitting on the couch next to me or another member of the family she will want to squeeze herself between the two and be pet.

Here's the deal. I think it's in your babies BEST interest to seek professional help now. Consult with a professional dog obedience trainer. They should be the best person to discuss this very serious and potentially dangerous situtation with. Trust your instincts NOW. The last thing you need in your life is a life threatening event ending with tragic consequences. Listen, I love dogs just the same...but this seed is already planted. Your child deserves the right to grow up in a safe environment. A potentially violent dog is a ticking time bomb. You would never knowingly subject your child to danger like: leaving chemical cleaning agents or a loaded gun laying around. Sorry to say, this is the exact same thing...but the good news is that you have control over the situation and can prevent anything from happening. You read horror stories all the time and 9 times out of 10 it's the family pet (regardless if the dog was friendly or not) that attacks a child. I'd hate for it to happen to your child. There are lot of resources on the net and lots of good books. One thing I did with my dogs was using a doll, and treating it as if it were a baby, well before the baby came, so that it wasn't SO new. I also walked them with the pushchair well before Daniel came along.

However, my dogs were not jealous dogs. You really need to work on getting her not so clingy to you/jealous, and on improving her training and mood.
See a trainer if you need to.

Please do not take any chances! Dogs can kill a baby!
