Introducing my self to a girl??

So there's a girl who I don't know that I think is cute in my high school and I wanna talk to her, she's a cheerleader and we have a mutual friend who is a good friend that's a girl ahe's also the head cheerleader+she that know's i wanna meet her. The next time i see her walking alone in the hall should i be like oh hey aren't you in cheer? Do you know where (head cheerleader's name) is? Then when she responds be like oh thanks, damn your kinda cute btw what grade are you in???????????

Or what do i say? Or should i wait for my friend to introduce us??
