IPhone 2g unlocked and jailbroken, but cydia doesn't work?

I jailbroke my 2g iphone 3.1.3 with redsnow. But when i open cydia, its very slow starting up, and when i try searching for something it shuts down. Also i connect to youtube... but i have wifi and i can go on safari.. any ideas?
