iPhone 3G on ios 4.3.3?

Someone I know has an iPhone that is running iOS 4.3. The iPhone is an mc model if that helps. What I want to know is what is going on.

They must have an iphone 3Gs not a 3g, an iphone 3G can update only to ios 4.2.1
