Iphone internet usage?

if you are buying an iphone, ATT only gives plans for unlimited data. as in you can never go over because there is no limit.

straight from att:

Data Plan for iPhone includes unlimited data in the U.S. Access rich HTML email and desktop-level web browsing, as well as Visual Voicemail to listen to voicemail messages in any order you choose.
 
i want to buy an iphone but im worried that ill go over my internet space thing and end up paying heaps. Will it still allow me to use the internet if iv hit the cap or will it tell me?
