iPhone OS 4.0 on 16gb 3GS SYNC problem?

Everytime I turn on my computer, an error message related to iPhone sync problems in the registry (windows vista) pops up, saying "corefoundation.dll" cannot be found. There is another error message about the Apple Sync Recognition Applette (something to that effect) not working either- then it closes on its own.

Every time I sync my iPhone, my computer crashes. It syncs some files, but not all, and NEVER anything new, other than what I've recently purchased on my phone. A lot of my photos have been blurred by something related to this, my personal .m4v video files do not sync, and some of the movies I've purchased on my phone don't copy back in playable condition. It also deletes everything in my playlists. And the phone will freeze up on occasion and reboot on its own.

Does anybody know a patch for this or anything I can do to fix it? Is reverting to the old 3.1.3 OS the only solution?
