I was Active Duty Army for 6 years but wasn't allowed to reenlist because I was overweight. Right before being discharged I found out I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and was undergoing medical treatment for it. I asked if I could extend my time on Active Duty until I was treated for it but my command was more focused on getting rid of me than letting me recieve treatment through the Army. They were treating me like pure shit and my 1SG screamed at me when he found out I was trying to extend. I worked in a hospital so he knew all the right people to contact at the hospital to keep me from getting properly treated. I tried to loose the weight but I couldn't and they thought I was being lazy. Well, I ended up going into the reserves and didn't have a physcial done after being discharged from the military. In fact, I never had one done. I ended up going into the Reserves and now I'm in the IRR. I found out I have type 2 diabetes and recently looked at one of my lab results that I had kept from when i was on Active Duty. Based on the lab results it clearly shows I had Type 2 diabetes at the time but was never diagnosed until a year after leaving Active Duty. The difference being I was seen at a civilian health center vs. the military. Now I have found out I have type 2 diabetes, a thyroid disorder, and elevated liver enzymes. I'm so mad because if they would have told me about my throid problem while I was still in the Army then I could have stayed on Active Duty. Is there anything I can do now since it's a year later. I have proof that my blood sugar levels were high then and for some reason was never informed about it. Since I never had a physical done upon leaving am I screwed or can I seek a medical discharge while being in the IRR? Can I be medically retired from the IRR and will I recieve any pay?
