I'm sixteen, and my parents are making me get a pap smear although I am a virgin and not sexually active in any way. Is it even necessary for me to get one? The thing is I've been having extremely irregular periods and that's the only thing that's wrong. I know in one of the two exams a speculum is used, which I'm assuming is going to be painful because A: I'm a virgin, and B: I can't even use tampons because the size is uncomfortable. So again, are my parents just being retarded and paranoid, or is it necessary I get one?
