Is anyone else disappointed in eHarmony?

I recently joined Chemistry and eHarmony against my will, for I am 23 and feel like resorting to online dating is giving up way too early. Chemistry had good ways of communicating, but it never found new matches for me. eHarmony finds tons of matches, but I personally can't stand the communication. You send 5 questions that are extremely broad and sometimes irrelevant, and then you wait for an eternity for a response. I know you have the option of emailing, but from my experience everyone just ignores those requests. The site says to be patient, but since it tracks every action anyone does on there, you can still see who viewed what you sent them and basically ditched you out of disinterest.

Now I suppose it isn't eHarmony's, Chemistry's, or any other site's fault that people ignore everything they don't care about, but I still do not like how eHarmony goes about introducing matches and breaking the ice. My only other thing to say is that having paid a decent dollar to subscribe to the sites, I wish people would at least be upfront and honest to at least reply with a "no thanks" instead of completely blowing you off.

Anyone else have a bad experience with sites like these?

Yes, I am quite disappointed with eharmony as well. I get matches but they have very little if anything in common with me. The ones that actually do end up communicating with me usually end up blowing me off.

I feel the opposite. I recently moved for a job, so I didn't know anyone in the area. I'm also 23... I decided to sign up for eHarmony so that I could at least make some friends, and eventually have one of those friends become more. I was nervous at first, thinking that it was somewhat desperate... But I've found a lot of nice girls on there who feel the same way I do: They just don't know where to meet someone.

I signed up a couple of months ago. I get about 6 or 7 matches per day... I browse through them and send the initial contact to the ones I think are worthwhile. You're right that some people just never respond... But I've had a handful who did. I've met three girls so far, the most recent being this past Saturday. She actually seems great, and I'm hoping it will work out.

It is expensive, but I like that in a way... It keeps most of the idiots off of it who are only messing around. I tried a free dating site before, and it was a disaster.

the idea of online dating sites is to get you interested and keep you interested but hardly ever to get anywhere. These people know that online dating just doesn't work and are making loads of money from gulable people hoping to find themselves a gorgeous guy or gal.

however, most people online are ugly or rate themselves so fantastically highly that no one will ever be good enough for them. you could send out dozens of messages and only receive 1 reply and that will usually be from the most desparate person on there!! people don't reply to messages, women don't send messages and unless you look like Brad Pitt, you will never get anywhere.

from my experiance, i messaged quite a lot of people and never got any response. The one reply i did get was from a girl who looked really fit and we ended up going on a date. when we met up however, she was fat and not very good looking - she had a nice personality and all and we really clicked but i just didn't find her attractive one bit. I so transpired that the pictures of this girl were professionally taken which is why she looked nothing like she does in real life. And thats another issues with online dating - people's pictures usually look nothing like their actual appearance.

trust me, dating sites are the biggest waste of time and money ever. they are just for people who are really insecure, people who are depressed, people with about 27 kids and people who are plain ugly and being as a person's opinion is solely based on appearance to begin with, they won't get anywhere with online dating.

steer well clear is my advice.
