Is Baseball card collecting a dead hobby & thing of the past?

I've got tons of rookie cards of hall of famers like George Brett,Robin Yount, Rickey Henderson, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield, Wade Boggs, Tony Gwynn, Ryne Sandberg..But the value of the cards are so low unlike in the mid 1980's when baseball card collecting was booming.
With the video games systems the kids spend $ on is baseball card collecting a dead hobby?

Kind of , Baseball card collecting morphed into things like the Magic card game and those damn pokemon card games and what have you.
