i have windows vista and it has crashed twice and i've had it for less than two years. my friend recommended bittorrent instead of limewire for a music site. do you think its safe? or have more info on it
c) Bittorrent is the advertised name of Bram Cohen's mainline client. It is also the name of the protocol used by this client as well as other Bittorrent clients.
d) `Safe` is a relative term. It's never `safe` to break the law, if that's what you're asking. Piece verification system in the Bittorrent protocol is effective though, if that was what you meant. It is (virtually) impossible for your finished copy of the file to differ from the original.
e) Vista crashing is probably unrelated. Vista crashes every few days for me, which is only slightly more often than XP. That's the norm with just about any Windows operating system.
Both programs (BitTorrent and LimeWire) are completely safe. It all depends on what you download with them. If you download a virus, then you're screwing yourself. You need to learn what files to not download.
If you're downloading a full song, and LimeWire says it's about 22kb, then obviously it's not a full song. BitTorrent is the same way.
Do a web search for tips on avoiding viruses in LimeWire...because it's very easy. I've used it for five years now and never once gotten a virus. It's all about being careful.
