Is calculating angle of declination for a COMPASS too complicated for a newbie?

I'm thinking about getting a compass but I've just learned a tiny bit about angle of declination. It seems complicated. I don't want to waste my money on a compass if it takes too much time/experience to correct the angle of declination.


So is it really difficult to learn how to correct angle of declination. And is it a complicated/annoying process, when you have to adjust it?
 
Very easy to do. Every topo map has the declination on the bottom of the map you just line up the map to that declination and the direction your lookin at an your set.
