Is it a sin to predict the future or tell someone about it?

Deuteronomy 18:10
There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, 11*or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead.

12*For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah

Its not a sin.
Its impossible.
And who ever claims to be predicting the future is a liar.

It's not a sin to predict the future or tell someone about it... however if you are using magic of any kind to predict anything... that would be a sin.

A prophet can tell you about things that haven't happened yet. But a lot of other people claim they can also. If you make a false claim about predicting the future, you're either lying (which is a sin) or insane.

So, if you think God has given you the power of prophecy, the way to tell is if anything you say will happen doesn't, you're not a prophet.

You can't predict the future, so it can't be a sin. There's nothing in the Bible that says having a conversation about the future is a sin, or that mentioning the future is a sin.

Yea, because only God can tell our future. and if you try to predcit the future, you are doubting God, and not trusting him.

Spiritism is a sin (if that's what you mean).

Acts 16:16-18
And it happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain servant girl with a spirit, a demon of divination, met us. She used to furnish her masters with much gain by practicing the art of prediction. This [girl] kept following Paul and us and crying out with the words: “These men are slaves of the Most High God, who are publishing to you the way of salvation.” This she kept doing for many days. Finally Paul got tired of it and turned and said to the spirit: “I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.

Yes. You can seek to understand the Bible teaching on it, but to have your own would be wrong.

James 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.

yes it is,,, GOD says BEWARE of these types of people........they are wolves in sheep's clothing. think about it,, JON EDWARDS. why is it, that everyone that comes through to him, is in heaven?.......NOT everyone go's to heaven.

Depends on what you mean by that. If you're making a "guess" like "I think your baby will be a girl," I don't see anything wrong with that. But when we are involving ourselves in horoscope reading or maybe trying to convince others we have some sort of supernatural power...that sorta thing. Yeah, I'd stay away from that.

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

remember that time in first grade when you made a fortune teller? you should have been stoned to death. praise jesus.

It is a sin in that it is a lie, since no one can predict the future. So anyone who says they are predicting the future is an outright lie.

Only God knows our future. Such things should not be dabbled in. Some people have had mental breakdowns after consulting fortune tellers. The bible warns against such things.

A friend of mine consulted a fortune teller when she was very young and was told that her husband would die in a car crash. 35 years later that man is still alive but she is now married to someone else and wonders 'which husband' was the fortune teller referring to. She will never have peace about this unless she asks God to forgive her for doing something that he forbids
