Don't be so uptight. She wasn't giving you all the gory details, she was telling you that she gets hormonal acne around her period. Big deal.

Today, I went to Macy's to buy some Clinique makeup. The saleswoman was helping me choose a foundation, so she asked me the usual questions about my skin type, breakouts, etc. She said that for the type of acne I get, I might need to see a dermatologist. Then she proceeded to tell me that she also used to get this type of acne once a month, because of hormones. She was telling me all about how she pretty much gets really hormonal and breaks out as a period side-effect. I know we're both women... but we're not friends, and I don't care to know about her period. Yuck.

I'd say it can be appropriate in general in some circumstances; but as a professional saleswoman she should be avoiding topics which could reasonably be expected to offend some people, and especially if it isn't relevant to what she's actually selling which it sounds like it wasn't

why couldn't you be friends?
i say why the hell not
you're comfortable with yourself
she was either giving you advice, or just looking for some relation, or both.
no harm.

she wasnt talking personally about her period, she was giving you an example of how her skin reacts in relation to yours, so dont be such a priss about stuff like this :P

why do you think that period is yuck the lady was just making a comment between women

Perhaps she could have made it a little less personal by saying that "some women experience this.". And to her it was probably no big deal so she never thought someone would be offended. I would say just go on with your life.
