Is it important for me to get tubes in my ears?

When I was little my mother was told that she should have tubes put in my ears. For the fear that something bad may come of me, she said no. Ever since then I have had major troubles with my left ear and I would like to know if I should go and have tubes in my ears.

I have a few other questions before though:

Will it hurt?

Will my hearing be majorly affected?

What health dangers does it have?
