...history of conflict? It shocks me...have they forgotten of the conflicts they have caused in history?
The 30 years war?
St Bartholomew's Day Massacre?
The Spanish reconquista?
The Great Schisms? (Of year 1000 and Avignon)
The Avignon Papacy?
The Crusades? (All 3)
The Inquisition?
Collapse of the Holy Roman Empire?
The French Religious Civil Wars? (All 8)
The Protestant Reformation? (Many persecutions occurred)
The German Peasant Wars?
The Schmalkaldic War?
The Dutch Revolt?

And many...many more revolts, civil conflicts, and international wars...

What about problems like witch hunting? All the people who were killed there?
The persecutions in the scientific revolution?
The persecutions in the Enlightenment?

And modern conflicts

Child Abuse?
Prejudice against other religions?
Religious persecution in foreign countries?
Take Y!A for example, all the bickering that goes on here.

It baffles me, how either Christians are ignoring this...or they are uneducated of what their people have done in the past and present, and what might come.

What do you think of this?

The HRE was a established economic empire, Napoleon was a pious Christian, you should know if you study European History. He say it as a threat to his own policies
 
Most Christians can read and write. What makes them different is what they choose to read and write. Once they are taught to have faith in illogical reasoning, any authority figure such as a priest or ruler, can steer them in any number of directions to gain power and control.

People that are as easily duped by" authority figures" as Christians, can and are led to perform heinous acts in the name of their God.
 
so then i guess germans are uneducated about the holocaust right? i guess every mexican is at fault for the crime and murdering happening right now. oh and how about terrorism? I guess those muslims need to wake up huh. I think MAYBE you need to stop generalizing CHRISTIANS...evil is found everywhere in every race culture religion country whatever! there do happen to be a lot of wolves in sheeps clothing too...God knows every single persons heart....!
 
I know all about those events. ;p Just because of what people in my religion did in the past doesn't mean the belief is bad. Americans and Europeans practiced slavery; does that mean that Americans and Europeans are evil? Just because a group of Germans killed Jews does that mean that all Germans are Jew-killers? o3o Not really.

The current Christians aren't accountable for what people in our religion did in the past. 'o.o It's the belief that counts, not the actions of the people who follow it. ^.^
 
Most of us want to forget and not judge one another but I am sure that you are blaming Christians and adding some extra events to your list that has little or nothing to do with Christianity...Right?...Come on now, be honest>:)

I suppose you might mean the Roman Empire. If so, it might interest you to know that modern historians do not take their cue from Edward Gibbon.

If you do mean the Holy Roman Empire, it might also interest you to know that that disappeared in 1806, when Napolean decided he had no further use for it.
 
I am not going to deny these atrocities at all, but the Christian religion (in its various forms) have been used as cover. It was not only Christianity, but political ambitions were probably a more potent driving force. I don't think that it was like how nietzsche's ideals inspired Hitler in WW2, if you were trying to get to that. Good Question Nonetheless.
 
In modern times it has been non-Christian dictators that have murdered millions upon millions.

They choose to ignore it, because as you may have guessed, it is what ignorant people do.
 
Organized religions have mastered the art of hypnosis, either that or their targeted audience were/are....
 
They'll just tell you everything is a lie, such as the Holocaust, which really DID happen and was quite recent.
