Is it ok to put my minivan battery with higher amps for cranking into my car?

No problem. Just make sure you put it in correctly, polarity wise. May be harder on the alternator in the long run, but for a short period of time, should not be a problem.
 
You can put any battery you want in it if it has the room as long as its the same voltage. Its current rating means how much current it can provide if needed. The higher the current rating, the better the battery.
 
My minivan battery has about 700 cold cranking amps and I put it in my '90 Honda Accord EX which only needs I think only about 560 amps cold crank. Thanks to all.
