is it okay to wear a maxi dress to a lounge?

so this weekend, i got invited to the birthday party of this guy that i went on a date with. He's going to have it at an indoor/outdoor lounge at a hotel in nyc. would it be okay to wear a maxi dress like the bcbg kyra dress (link to pic provided) or would it be too dressy? what should i wear in case its cold and want to wear something over? any suggestions? thanks!

I think a maxi dress would be great! It definitely one of the fashions that can be played up or down depending on the occasion. Just by changing your accessories and shoes you could make it totally suitable for a lounge!
