I was thinking of getting my iPhone 3GS unlocked and using it on Telus network because the plans are better, but if I can't use it when its unlocked I might as well cancel my contract and get an iPhone through Telus. I only ask since Telus now has chip phones

To which network is the phone locked too?To unlock an iPhone the remote unlock service would be a better option because, you need not give your mobile to someone else nor do you have any chance to enter the wrong unlock codes. To get such an unlocking service for your iPhone 3GS approach Mobile-unlocker.com and by submitting the country and network to which the mobile is locked to you will be able to remove the restriction from the respective network. This will be a permanent unlocking solution.Once the mobile is unlocked you can swap networks.
