With the recent bill and growing support of legalization of marijuana in California, do you think the plant will be soon legalized in California and to follow to the rest of the states for recreational use?
I personally support it. It would bring in revenue to help the failing economy, we could stop the silly prohibiting of using hemp materials, and it is much healthier than current legal substances. Marijuana has been shown to slow or altogether not cause cancer, and doesn't damage your body like alcohol does, nor cause the aggressiveness that alcohol seems to add in people, and is much better on your body than pain pills. I mean, alot of people this day and age prefer the organic path to doing things, so marijuana would be a great pain medication, as well as a hobby for some.

The only thing i really see slowing this down is coming up with a way to test for DUI.

As far as taxing, the easiest way would be to have the farmers and those who would be selling have to buy a license, and if caught growing or selling without a license, to pay a fine.

Of course an age limit should be set, like 21, which is reasonable, since alchohol is a much more dangerous substance.

Not to mention the fact that the overpopulation of marijuana offenders being jailed would clear up and keep prison costs down, also lowering the income of drug cartels who deal in the plant.

Drug dealers are probably the number one group of people lobbying against the legalization of the herb.

This would cut down on people who already smoke the plant having to deal with these shady individuals. If the "gateway" argument that has persisted and failed is only really applicable because people have to go through a dealer who will offer or pressure you into the usage of real drugs. If pot is legalized, no need to go through a dealer and be susceptible to such hard substances, therefor the leading to other substances being dropped a great deal. Alcohol and cigarettes lead to other substances just as anything would. If you've gotten hurt and were prescribed vicodin, you could just easily say "hey i like this, I'm going to try some heroin".
