I have some mechanical problems with my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I have a few questions. I'm not expecting anyone to be able to answer them all but any advice or opinion would certainly help.
A few months back I hit a curb in my Jeep going about 40mph. I blew out both right tires and even chipped the front rim pretty good. Ever since, the steering wheel is off center about 5 degrees to the right. The car rides a little rough but is extremely loud, especially when I'm driving fast.
Last week I had a water pump put in and the mechanic took a quick look and said I at least need front wheel bearings. I don't think he checked to see if anything was bent though which I'm guessing is the case with my luck. I can do the bearings myself but anything more I'd have to pay a mechanic to do. Try and base your answers on the fact that I'm just trying to get rid of it but want to the route that's gonna benefit me the most. The bluebook value is between 3,700 and 4,200
Is it a good chance the bearings are mainly where the loud roaring noise is coming from?
Is there a good chance I have a lot more wrong with my car? If so do you have a range of what it could cost to repair?
Is there anything worth fixing or am I better off selling as is?
I have the option to trade for a 93 Accord. It's a lame car and only worth about $2,500 but fuel efficient. Should I just go for that trade?
If you actually took the time to read this post, thanks. Like I said, any opinion or advice will do.
