is my dad a sex offender, please help this makes me sick?

So last year this girl told me my dad was in this paper for a sex offender then another girl said the same thing. They don't know him except one lives next door to me. So when I asked my mom about it and all she said he was set up. I don't think my dad went to jail since I was young when it happen. I googled it and it says rape 1st and sexual abuse. And one website said it was a young girl. I've always ignored it but now it disgust me to look at him and I really don't want to talk to my mom about it. He has a good job and we live like a normal family but I want to know what really happen because at the moment he will never see my children when I start a family even though I already planned that since I hate him anyway :/ what should I do
I also have his name which I absolutely hate so I don't want it affecting me when I try to get a job and stuff
