Is my dream to travel unrealistic?

I've always wanted to travel. I'm not just talking about hopping on a cruise ship and stopping at ports, I want to live all over the world. I am a nurse and I am uncertain how difficult it would be to practice abroad, it depends on each country.

However, I love someone who will hold a normal 9-5 job and cannot up and leave for months to years. I worry if I marry and settle in suburbia, one day I'll look back and regret not taking advantage of being young and free. The thing is, I don't want to loose my boyfriend by running off to some other country just to fulfill my selfish needs. He's open to travel, but maybe not to the extent that I want.

Is my desire to really dig into other cultures unrealistic?
I said my career IS nursing. And even if I didn't practice abroad, I could take 6month-1 year assignments here and then travel. But what good is travel alone, especially as a young lady?
Yes, we have talked about it. He is open to traveling, but not as interested in living in another country as I am, but he's not totally closed. His degree is in business/finance, so he could potentially have a career where he travels, but there is no gaurentee of that.
