I just got 5 small red honey gouramis a week ago and I'm thinking of breeding them. There is one male who sits at a corner near the filter and kinda looks high (its eyes wide open, fins fully stretched and colour very yucky brown instead of red) making his bubble nest. Its very small but I notice that when the other gouramis swim near it, he doesn't chase them away. The females sometimes come up to him and tickle him with their long fins, which is cute.
Is the male showing signs of being ready to breeed?
And how will I know that the females will be ready?
Experience:
bred Nothos, both mop spawners and peat spawners, guppies, swordtails, many shrimp.
