Is the crack in my trucks windshield illegal?

I just bought a truck from a friend and it has a crack located just off center down the windshield. I know I need to get it to replaced asap I just want to know if I can get pulled over and receive a fix it ticket for it. Thanks in advance!
 
it really depends one the officer, if you explain that you just bought it and just havent had the time to get the winsheild replaced they may just give you a warning. but i'm pretty sure it's not illegal
 
Over time, grit accumulates in the windshield's damaged area, and temperature fluctuations can make the marred portion grow

damage that obstructs the driver's view is illegal
 
I would imagine you could if you got pulled over though just tell them it happened today and your ready to get it replaced, I would imagine they would just give you a citation to get it replaced and if you do they should rip up the ticket. Good Luck
