My kids find it hard to finish a book. My 7 year old daughter is more diligent than my 10 year old son, but both of them seem to find reading a bit ... well, tiring, would you believe it? My nieces are the same, and lots of parents I know are experiencing the same thing. It doesn't matter how interesting or well-illustrated the book is.
They enjoy TV Computer and Playstation games - they read THOSE instructions and dialogues with pleasure, but books? No way.
As a child, I LOVED to read - couldn't get enough. Reading story books was never a chore.
Is it the attention span? Do words not create images fast enough for children nowadays?
Do you think the era of books is well and truly over?
