We've had a lot of thunderstorms round here in the last week. Now, although they've finished the power keeps flickering. During the storms themselves we had several power cuts, lasting up to 20 minutes which affected the entire village. I'm thinking now that the transformer just up the road must have been damaged-which is causing the split second power outages. Trouble is even during this brief power cut my pc goes off - and it gets terribly snarled up trying to start again while it is still basically powering down.
I have surge protection - I just wondered if there was something I could plug in which would keep it going.
It took me three days to fill in a job application - simply because my pc kept switching off, and it is getting terribly frustrating.
Any help/advice much appreciated.

if you want to carry on get a car battery and a inverter this will if the battery is good keep you going for a few hours. don't forget to recharge your battery in the time you have mains power

Yes - look for Uninterruptible Power Supplies at any computer shop. They give you about 15 minutes to save everything.

Edit: Found some for you.
