Is there a graphics card suited for the 2 'opposing' applications I need?

Many of the new graphics cards have 3D rendering capabilities. So which ever you choose (as long as its good) will be able to handle your programs. The only thing you will have to be careful of, is graphics cards are specific to the motherboard. So make sure your motherboard can support the graphics card you wish purchasing.
 
I am in high school taking a drafting class and I am planning on buying a new graphics card so I can run '3DS Max' and render quickly and at high resolutions. I also game on my PC, I know that there are graphics cards made for either drafting or gaming. But is there any that are good for both? I don't need to render thousands of objects with crazy materials, nor do I need my games running max settings either. I just want a card that can handle my level of 3D drafting and play games that look good, instead low frame rates and poor resolution.
 
A Gforce GTS450 1GB should easily be good enough to do what you want and not too expensive
