You must be an actual Verizon client in order to get v-cast. I'm sure it would not work even if you flashed your phone to Verizon's software because their system won't recognize your device and you may screw up your ability to make anything work on TELUS. 'Java' apps are used by TELUS while Verizon uses 'Brew'.
