Is there a way to install a blu- ray player/drive into a laptop after purchase?

I bought an HP laptop recently from Best Buy (dv7-1245dx) and it didn't come with a built-in blu-ray player - only DVD. Is there a way for in the future when Blu-rays become more popular, to have the driver installed into the laptop? Or do you need to buy some sort of separate USB player that I'd need to plug in?
 
Yes you can purchase an external Blu ray player/burner that plugs into your USB port. I would wait a few months until the prices come down because of how new they, but they work great.
