I have an app called PDAnet that allows me to connect anything connected to my USB to connect to the internet. I have tried to connect it to my PS3 and it only reads through the ethernet cord. So I connected my phone to my laptop, then connected an ethernet cord to a router, then to the PS3. It can get an IP address but can't connect to the internet.
