Is there any way to transfer your mobile phone with the same provider?

I have an o2 sim only in my mums name which iv had for a few months , im going to be getting an o2 contract phone in my own name , is there anyway to keep the existing number in the o2 network e.g. moving it form one account to another?

Because as far as I am aware you cannot use a PAC code to move your number around the same network.

Is there a way to do it? because it would save hassle because my plan is ... Get my PAC code give it to vodafone , orange or t mobile .... wait for it to be ported .... then get a PAC code from whoever gets the number then give the PAC code back to o2. So that is all a bit too much hassle and will take about a week. So if there is a way to move a number within the same network , can i please find out?
