i mean to use it like an antenna to pick up over the air tv stations or digital tv.

If there are free to air satellite stations in your area then a cheap and cheerful digital satellite receiver will do the job. You can get them new for as little as £40/$50.

If you purchase a freesat box it will take the signal that your dish is recieving and allow you to watch all freeview and freesat channels also if you have a hd tv there is freesat HD where you can get free HD channels. its cost around £100 for the box and thats all you have to pay

No they run off very different coding and programming. You can buy good rabbit ears now for $40 or so, so that might be a good option unless you want to pay the cable or satellite fees.

Digital tv is only through cable. ALL Tv antenna will be rendered useless on June 12 (the conversion has been delayed)
