Is this his way of coping with becoming a father?

Hi I am 31 weeks pregnant and my boyfriend has been fine and dandy throughout the whole thing. He seemed so happy and excited. Lately, since around the beginning of January, he has been playing video games 24/7. Now I don't have a problem with playing video games, as I was once a gamer in the Nintendo days...but he has never been this bad. Every single day (week day) that I'm not with him, I give him a few calls here and there, and he seems to play Call Of Duty (online) every minute he's awake. The only thing I can imagine he pauses it for is food, drink, pee, occasional shower (who knows if he showers throughout the week :S !)and sleep.....he says he can't pause on an "online" session. This is scaring me because it seems like some sort of depression, yet he remains to claim happiness... what do you think is going on?

P.S. we've been dating for 4 years and this has been in only the last 2 months or so.

I would imagine the closer you get to delivery, the more stressed out he is getting. Let him play his video games, if it helps. After the baby comes and he see how cute it is. The baby will take the place of the games. Let him enjoy his few more weeks of free time.

Tell him what you told us. You don't mind game playing but, you want him to cut back a little. It's true you can't pause online games...ok!...but, he can stop after like 20mins each round. Ask him to spend 30mins a night just together talking. That's like 1 game round!

Ask him to invest this time to talk to each other and what's going on. He is probably feeling like once he's a dad he will have no time to do these things. I know gaming can get addictive and have passed days where time flew.

Talk to him about how you feel and ask him to do the same. Spend time w/ physical contact to reconnect because that is important in relationships. Spend a little time directly talking about the baby. He is probably nervous but, if you gradually introduce the idea and gradually take him off the games then you should be ok. If not then just tell him no more and get responsible. lol

Good luck!!
