This is a VERY weird story and I'd just like some imput from others. I've been looking for a sporty secondary car to drive in nice weather and at the local road course. Two weeks ago, I found a '95 Nissan 300ZX TT for an extremely cheap price at a dealer. The car runs fine, the body is in decent shape, only has about 80k, and it was just inspected last month. The blue book on it is almost 10 grand, but the dealer's only asking 7 grand for it. So I have my friend go check it out for me. He knows a lot about the rwd Nissans, and he says it checks out fine. I took it for a test drive and everything seemed perfect, I was ready to buy it(but I was still skeptical about why it was so cheap). I went back to the dealer and made an offer. Instead of trying to haggle me up, he just accepted it on the spot which made me concerned. Before signing anything, I asked the salesman to see the Carfax report on the car. They had already printed one out for it earlier, and the guy regretfully handed it over to me. It said that the car was involved in 2 major collisions and 1 moderate one. It also said that the car had been repaired after each accident, but I was extremely concerned about buying it. This is where it gets weird, REALLY weird. I decided to check the title, and it didn't say anything about salvage or being totalled. Then, my stomach dropped as I saw the back. All three of the previous owners had the same first AND last name as me. At first, I thought it was the same owner who renewed the title after moving to a different state, but each name had a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SIGNATURE. I was completely freaked out by this and backed away from the deal immediately, but I can't stop thinking about it. Part of me thinks that it's some type of weird joke, but why the hell would they do something like this? I don't know anyone who works there, and they only found out my name about an hour before when they copied my driver's license so I could test drive the car. Has anyone ever heard of ANYTHING like this happening before? Part of me wants to see if I can find any info on the previous owners, but I'm honestly afraid to.
