i'm sorry but is it really necessary to need a 10 dollar a month data plan on any new freaking phone from verizon? my upgrade is in a few weeks (i have an env2) and now every phone requires a 9.99 minimum for a data plan. but when my brother and my boyfriend both got the env3 a few months ago they didn't have to do this crap.

i'm looking at the env touch and the samsung rogue and both need internet right?

i have an ipod touch to use for internet. i don't need to be paying 120 a year for internet.

If you don't want to pay for a data plan just look through the simple feature phones, they don't require a data plan. The phones you are looking at are designed to be used online and even the ENV3 may have some data usage just sending or receiving picture messages.

Actually there are no less than about 15 phones that dont require it. The reason that the env3s dont require it is because they were purchased before the data plans went into effect. Verizon has been wanting to do this for a long time, but they decided to wait and see what happened.. Well, customers racked up 20, 50, even 100 dollars in internet fees from using the phones that are internet capable so to save time and hassles on both ends, internet capable phones now come with an internet allowance- the reason you're paying for it is because you can get internet anywhere, not just on wi-fi like the ipod
