Islam, Christianity, and Judaism?

Are they fundamental to the values of “western civilization” in your estimation? If so, why have so many wars been fought and continue to be fought on behalf of those who proclaim their faith? What's your opinion on this? I don't want information from websites, but your point of view.
 
My opinion is mankind will use any tool to gain power and wealth, and influence. Religion has been a tool, an excuse to subvert others, to justify aggression with the thought that "God" has ok'd it. A most recent example is when Dubya called the invasion of Iraq a "Crusade" Before that it was the conflict in the Balkans, etc. All in the name of religion. Western society uses religion to bully. They forget the tenets of their faith and pick and choose lessons to justify the bullying. And the rest of the faiths have done also. Hindus vs. Muslims, Protestants vs. Catholics, (IRA) Muslims vs. Christians, Israeli's vs. Palestinians, etc. If I am wrong then why is Islam itself being attacked for terrorism when it is criminals going against the Qur'an? Why don't Christians follow their own tenets and go after the criminals instead of the faith they say they espouse? It says in Ezekial 18:20: "The person who sins dies. The son will not bear the punishment for the father..."
 
I believe the reformation, the enlightenment, and the Jewish enlightenment were fundamental to western civilization.

I don't believe Islam has much to do with western values at all. I believe Islam is still stuck in the middle ages, which you can see in their desire to be judged under Sharia Law, as it was done in the middle ages, when people were judged and given rights as was granted according to their religion rather than being universal laws of the land. It's how "multi-culturalism" was addressed in those days.

And most of the wars have to do with land and resources. I don't see many Jews or Christians yelling "I fight you in the name of Moses" or "The power of Christ compells me to war against the heathen!" Like I said, Islam is stuck in the middle ages, and are well past due of an enlightenment movement of their own.
 
The most religion which has been attacked is Islam special those who practices their religion, but if Christians or Jews practices theirs then that's OK. That's my point and God only knows the truth.
 
yes I would say they were at least christianity was up untill reacently if you look at the muslim world most of those countries proclaiming that still seem to be in the dark ages beating and killing women if they claim they were raped.
 
Christianity and Judaism are fundamental to the values of western civilization, but Islam is not. It is true that these three faiths have much in common, but wars are not fought over commonalities, but rather differences.
 
Is Islam fundamental to the value of 'western civ' ? My brain has just completely shut down. It's like a computer when it freezes up and doesn't come back on line for a week. I can't even whip out a metaphor for how insane that is. OK, here's one. "Is heroin fundamental to a healthy baby ?".

As for Christianity, it's arguable that Christianity has a lot to do with 'western civ'. Ditto for Judaism especially since Christianity comes from Judaism. Not saying I'm thrilled to death with 'western civ' but it beats the hell out of 'middle eastern civ'(with the exception of Israel) any day.

Anyway, that's my POV.
 
Just look at the quran - their source of inspiration - now just say we change the word Christian, Jew and non-believer with the word muslim - what do you get? - hate speech? - well would my muslim friends do something about it? - no because the quran is "the true message from Allah" - you be the judge !!!

"How Perverse are the Muslims"
"Strike off the heads of Muslims as well as their fingertips"
“Fight those Muslims who are near to you"
"Muslim mischief-makers should be murdered or crucified"

Hate speech? Sounds like it to me, too... but, oddly enough, these are quotes from the Qur'an in which the word 'Christian', 'Jew' or 'unbeliever' has been replaced with the word 'Muslim.'
Here is how they actually appear in the "holly" Koran:

Sura (8:55) - Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve
Sura (48:29) - Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves
Sura (9:30) - And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah... Allah (Himself) fights against them. How perverse are they!
Sura (8:12) - I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them
Sura (9:123) – O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness
Sura (5:33) - The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement

These verses come from five different places in the Qur'an. There are dozens of others scattered throughout that advocate violence in open-ended fashion. There are hundreds more that speak of hatred and hell toward Christians, Jews, and other non-believers.
