Isn't it hypocritical for certain individuals to complain about the mosque being...

...built near Ground Zero? They whine about it being a "slap in the face". I'd like to remind you that your entire country is built on ground that didn't originally belong to you. And not only ground, but the blood of the original owners.
Imagine bringing one of the original native chiefs or tribesmen to the present, letting them take a look around, and maybe even letting them observe what is happening between current Americans and the mosque near Ground Zero. Talk about a slap in the face.

It isn't "whining." It's real anger that Muslims would have the audacity to build this mosque in the face of what Muslims did.

Here's a bulletin for ya, Canuck, YOUR entire country is built in ground that didn't originally belong to you, either. It took until 1999 for the Canadian government to dissolve the Northwest Territories and allow it to become part of Nunavut.

So, the next time you're look for a hypocrite, look in the mirror and mind your own business when it comes to the States.

Man you are all over the map on that one. Jeesh.

I disagree with your reasoning but I agree with your position, I think, because you are in favor of the mosque, as am I.
NYC is not only Ground Zero for the 9/11 attacks but it is Ground Zero for xenophobic whites and christians who view the contstruction of a mosque as a monument to praise the horrible terrorist attacks like some kind of symbol of victory. While I respect their position, and understand the vitriolic response, the denial of freedoms for all religions in America is wrong in every way. We can not ascribe to the American ideals of freedom and equality for all if we take the positions that those same freedoms only apply in certain situations, or for certain people. It's all in, all the time.

It IS hypocritical. Not all Muslims are terrorists - and not all terrorists are Muslims. The fact they complain of the proximity of a Mosque, near Ground Zero is ridiculous! Sure, there will be some Muslims who'll see this as "one in the face of the infidels", but we can't tar them all with the same brush.

How many have died in the name of Christianity, or Catholicism? I personally find all religion abhorrent. I believe more wars and suffering are caused in the name of religion, that it has gone beyond what it set out to be. I know many people find comfort in religion; but, as this question proves, there are many more who don't!

If Native Americans hadn't been so "accepting" of white people, maybe it would have gone down differently. Which side are you arguing, again?

Gus: I was thinking more really early on...on the first Thanksgiving, they could have served Pilgrim as easily as pheasant.

You act like you never seen hypocrisy in religion and politics before. Hypocrisy is all over the place everywhere you look.

Well then let's build churchs all over north africa since all those countries are on land that didn't originally belong to arabs! Now, back to the issue of yelling VIVA ISLAM miles away from where the towers were destroyed by islam, it is an insult.

Well, either way it's going to be a slap in the face to some ignorant being not able to see all ends of a situation.

That's what us smart Americans think. Building a mosque near Ground Zero is what America SHOULD do. They should celebrate it and say to the world, "terrorists who happen to be Muslim attacked us, but we welcome Muslims to this country which one of the founding principals was freedom of religion."
