Issues playing DivX videos on Xbox 360?

Okay, here's the problem: whenever I try to play a DivX video and I'm not signed in to Xbox Live, it says I need to sign in to get the codec. For some reason, it never just downloads the DivX codec for good, and I have to be signed in every time to play the video. Does anyone know why, and if so, is there any way to download the codec so I don't have to sign in every time?
 
That is odd.

are you sure you're downloading the codec? You sign in, and try to watch the movie, it should download that codec. make sure you don't delete the codec.

Are you saving the codec to your hard drive or memory stick? The codec doesn't save to the system memory, you need to store it somewhere.

if this keeps going, you might want to contact microsoft.
