I'm positive that it's not dead; when I tried to listen to it the other day in the car it told me to connect it to iTunes, so when I got home I plugged it in and a pop-up in iTunes said that "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I then attempted to restore the iTouch, and the screen still did the same thing (told me to plug into iTunes). I disconnected it from the computer, plugged it back in, and the same pop-up telling me to restore came up on the screen. Any suggestions as to what to do? Thank you so much in advance!
