so i've had my newest rats for about 2 weeks today. no i didn't quarantine them.
I've had them seperated ever since i got them. But i always let them play everyday for 20 minues on neutral territory, 20 minutes in the other pairs cages, and then 20 minutes together in one cage, then i'd seperate them. And so last night, i put white vinegar on all of them to make them smell similar. Then i cleaned the cage, put vinegar all over the wire, and put some on all the houses and towels that i use to line the cage with.
Since then, they have been fighting a bit. Only one of my haired rats (haired are my older rats) that is territorial has been picking fights. My other gentle haired rat has never ever tried to fight with my two new rats.
But even then, they are still terrified of the gentle haired rat because of what my territorial haired rat has done.
so now i have a few questions.
1)Should i keep them together for a few more days to see how it goes?
2)What can i do about the scratches on my hairless rat? I'm scared he'll get an infection.
3)How can i reduce the stench of four male rats in one big cage? I just cleaned it yesterday and it already kinda smells.
4)will my hairless become more comfortable housed with my two haired rats in time?
