I've never written a book, but I'm interested. If I do will it make me money?

I think I pretty smart and creative. Most of the books I read arn't that interesting, take for example Twilit and Harry Potter.

I think if they could make a book, I could to. Maybe even a better on..

Thing is I don't know what I'll get after my hard work. I wouldn't want it lying down on my desk or to give it for free.

Can I make money off of it or is it a waste of time?
omg my spelling/grammar is so bad, sorry didn't double check what I was writing...

No, probably not. At least not the first one.

If you are really "smart and creative" you should start with short stories and work your way up to a novel. That way you will get experience, hone your skill, get a reputation with publishers, and be a name.

Right now you are just another kid who thinks he has talent and wants to make a fast buck.

U write because u want to write not just to make money. Well money is an extra bonus but anyway no it's a waste of time unless u enjoy writing and it is actually a good book.

You write because you're INTERESTED, not because you want to MAKE MONEY. Well, it certainly is a motivator, but if your heart isn't in the setting, characters, and plot that you are inventing, then it's all moot.

If you want to make money, writing fiction is one of the least certain ways to do it. Most people who write fiction don't earn anything from it. Most people who do make money don't earn enough for it to be their sole source of income. Most people who do make money don't make anything from the first book they write, nor the second, nor the third. On average, you need to write about a million words for practice before you're capable of writing something the public will pay to read.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make money from writing, but if it's your main reason or only reason for writing, you'll probably end up bitter and twisted at having wasted years writing books that nobody wants to read (or nobody wants to pay for, anyway). Write because you have a story that you want to tell, not because you want to be rich from having told a story.

Hi from France ?

If your main purpose is money well, that will not work.. Otherwise it depends if your books is good enough for be published / your talent and too, how many of those will be sell...
The best is to write by having a job at the same time.

Have a nice day

Most authors don't make a lot of money. Its not a career that you decide "I'm going to be an author" and strike it rich. If you don't consider writing worth it, if you don't make money, its not the right career for you.

The first couple of your books will be the ones that get you noticed, then you'll get a sponsor and people will start paying for your books - if they're good that is

if J.K Rowling can then anyone in the world can! she was apparently sitting in some cafe when she wrote the book and just tried getting her book published and it worked! but then again these kind of professions are extremely competitive.
my personal advice would be continue what you are doing (job, studying) and if you are passionate about writing then start writing but do not take it as a full time job. Write when you're free and keep it as a side job or something so that your not completely dependant on it, and that way you wont even be too depressed if things dont work out since you'll have your normal life running the same way.
but remember, you have one life; do what your passionate about! hardwork always pays off (sooner or later)
dont mean to sound preachy loll but i hope i helped!
