After suffering his first loss as a starting point guard for the New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin didn’t waste any time bouncing back. Sunday against the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, Lin exploded for 28 points, 14 rebounds and five steals. The NBA sensation hit 11-of-20 shots from the field, including half of his shots from beyond the three-point line.
However, it wasn’t easy for Lin and the Knicks. New York was trailing going into the fourth quarter. But thanks to a 32-22 final stanza, the Knicks were able to pull away with a 104-97 victory.
“I was watching them win the championship last year,” said Lin, “and that’s obviously where this team wants to go.”
While the 16-16 Knicks are far from a championship, they have definitely found something in their new international star.
As for the champs, the news wasn’t all bad. Dirk Nowitzki had one of his best games of the season, totaling 34 points on 11-of-20 shooting and 4-of-5 shooting from downtown.
