The New York Jets are scrambling trying to find a replacement for Darrelle Revis — the superstar cornerback who will miss the rest of the season due to an ACL tear in his knee. In doing so, the Jets are thinking outside the box.
Who are the Jets getting to replace Revis? Joe McKnight, a backup running back on the team. McKnight hasn’t played cornerback since high school but now the Jets are going to lean on him. While he won’t start, the Jets intend for him to see plenty of time on the field.
“He’s got the speed, the size, athleticism, the ball skills, so I don’t think there’s any reason not to think Joe McKnight couldn’t be a corner,” said Rex Ryan, head coach of the Jets. “It’s just going to take time, obviously.”
It’s an interesting idea but you can bet quarterbacks are already licking their respective chops.
