Since the 1990s, Constantine has been exiled from the greater DCU due to the mature content of his title Hellblazer. Now he's back in the DCU with Swamp Thing. What do you think? What other Vertigo characters do you think should be brought back to the DCU?

Honestly, I think it's _meant_ to be one more sign that it's "the beginning of the end" for the current DCU setup. That DC Comics in general is going to dump _everything_ they plan on erasing or getting rid of into the current Earth-Zero setup, and then beyond some point soon, all they will have is the Earth One stuff.

Within the narrative? It's possible that the Blackest Night/Brightest Day events really, truly and madly screwed up things in terms of how life and the afterlife are supposed to work. Consider that the characters brought back in from Vertigo are closely associated with ecosystemic life-force (the Swamp Thing) and the afterlife-in-the-underworld (Constantine). Also consider that both of these characters have died and come back nine ways from Sunday.

It's possible that current events are about saying that there _was_ an implicit karma/reincarnation narrative to go with the implicit Judeo-Christian one present in the DCU, but that the mess with Nekron and with basically setting it up to say that "no one else comes back" has done something greater to disturb the way life and death are supposed to work.

Maybe the real in-narrative catch is that real life, real death, real physics (read: The Laws of Thermodynamics) and Real Time are finally catching up with the DCU.
