The temperature gauge went all the way on hot, so we stopped for awhile, refilled the radiator with water, turned on the car, and it cooled down a lot.
We kept going, and eventually it went back to hot, and then we waited and refilled again. There was no leak, but water was boiling out from under the radiator cap.
We stopped at a gas station for good while, refilled again and drove a bit more. It started to go up to hot, but then it went back down to the normal temperature, so we kept driving. A few yards later, the car started making a rattling noise every time I hit the gas. Then, everything shut off.. Power steering.. Brakes.. Lots of lights came on.
We pulled over, got the car out of the road, and now it won't start.
There was no leak. I thought it may be a thermostat problem, but I'm not very sure.. I don't understand why it went back to the normal temperature right before all the crazy stuff happened.
Anybody know what's going on?
