Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories- what is the bell in castle oblivion?

I am playing Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and i am at the 13th floor in castle oblivion.
I have seen a floating bell with a light flashing at the top. If I hit it with my keyblade, it starts ringing. I am very curious on its purpose. Plz help!

I don't think it does anything other than give you either HP balls or Moogle points when you hit them. I could be wrong but I don't think they serve any other purpose.
