buttons and zippers out of cloth the dog is eating metal butons and zippers out of clothing. The dog is sixteen years old
 
Sometimes dogs get a condition called Pica, which is eating inedible objects--rocks, dirt, etc. Some think it is due to something lacking in their diet. Otherwise, as another person has said, he could certainly be suffering from dementia (canine cognitive dysfunction)--his thinking is not right. Whatever the cause, your vet can help you. Good luck.
 
Could be her teeth hurt. Has she gone to the vet recently and had her teeth checked? Likely at her age, they aren't in good shape. Give her lots of chew toys and don't let her have things that don't belong to her. The vet may be able to give you stuff to help her if she is in any pain.
