Lamar Odom was a bust with the Dallas Mavericks. He never seemed to adjust to leaving Los Angeles. While the Lakers are reportedly interested in him, the team making the biggest push for Odom is the Clippers. With the Clippers needing a bigman who can space the court, Odom looks like a perfect fit.
Of course, the Clippers must believe that Odom’s horrible year last season was a fluke. They must believe he’ll be able to turn it around once he gets back to Los Angeles.
Personally, I’m not so sure. Odom is getting up there in years and if he slows down at all, his skills could become exploitable by NBA offenses. He needs all of his quickness to be an effective player; I’m not convinced that he hasn’t lost a step.
As for the Mavs, they’d gladly give him away to whoever will absorb his contract. They want no more of Odom.
